After many years with the RAC I've switched to the AA. So many criticisms of the RAC. their phone menu when you try to contact them is so long winded - exactly what you don't need in an emergency, or at any other time. You can be on hold for ages, while the annoying automated man tells you how they solve most problems in half an hour. three hours is my typical experience. Seems like they don't have enough call centre or roadside staff. The roadside staff when they do turn up tend to be pretty good and have solved the problem, but half an hour on the phone, being told they are busy mid morning on a Thursday and a 3 hour wait for help is very poor customer service. They also charged me after I cancelled.

The Royal Automobile Club at Epsom, fantastic venue! How the othet half live!!!

Rubbish! Is what I can say I broke down got the vehicle in my drive got in the house phoned rac then they said ok be with you in 90 minutes I said ok, then they called me back 40 minutes later to say sorry not able to make it to you now can we book you in between 8 and 12 the next morning ? what the hell I told them this is no good I need recovery to the garage they are awaiting delivery tofix the car rac said tough and hung up!I called them back and asked for a hire car automatic diesel and big enough for me and the wifes wheel chair, got told we dont cover for disabled get your own car!2 calls every day for 4 days then told I m going to hang up now, your wasting our time..left like a prisoner in my home.Well guess what the car is at the garage and they say RAC broke our car and the fault was caused by them on the road side. Also they will not be getting money out of us they can stick the rac disabled discrimination idiots and to top it off they leave you as a pensioner vulnerable on the road side. Nasty peace of work..Take note of the name RAC see you in court disabled discrimination , to start with failure on contract and breach of contract!!!!!trading standards letter on its way!

What can I say!!!!! They left me and the wife a disabled couple on the side of the road for 5 hours no heat or drink not allowed to return to car. then tried to get us in a truck for recovery and then refused to take the disabled wheel chairs and left s on the side of the road and took the car, after 3 hours of calls and moaning they paid for a taxi to take us home then the cheeky beggars sent us the bill! Then when they got to the garage they kept the car in a lockup for two days. Please dont use RAC scam Munger and dont support disabled, what a bunch of sk*m go green flag they helped us in 30 minutes and took care us with wheel chairs and even provided a better hire car without charge and even gave us a cup of tea on the road side and blanket.RAC = rubbish, customer service sucks and they break the law and discriminate against old and disabled.

Rang up on behalf of my mother today, advised that she had to leave her car at a pump at a petrol station two minutes from our house as she needed to get to work and then go straight to the hospital to see my dad. Advised that I would be driving my car to meet the engineer to give them access to the vehicle so I could get it home and then walk back to get my car. I understand that I'm not on the policy ..but for obvious reasons my dad can't be there and my mum also can't get to the car until late this evening. I can't push the car out of the way as it's an automatic and I'm unable to ask my dad to help me turn off the dump valve. No compassion at all. Just a 'customer service' advisor stuck on repeat.. who even advised that the employees at the petrol station won't like the fact the car is stuck next to the pump. UPDATE:My mum called this evening to be told the engineer wouldn't be out until 11/12 tonight... Again she had to be the one with the car. She has work again early in the morning, she hasn't stopped inbetween work and visiting my dad and does not need to be sat outside waiting for an engineer at 11 o'clock at night.I called back as I was pretty disgusted with the lack of empathy and customer service in general ...and I'm glad I did. Adam has completely restored my faith! What a wonderful human being he is! He has arranged for the engineer to contact me and for me to be present instead!!Thank you Adam! 5 star+ rating for you!
